 Suzanne Jurgens: Boomer

SUZANNE'S BOOMER
Boomer is our 4 year old Great Pyrenees.  He came to live with us after his goat herd was sold.  I had gone to his former owners "just to take a look at him".  Needless to say, I fell in love.  Boomer loves to be with people.  Even though our cats don't really think it is fun, he likes to play with them too.  He loves to be groomed, which is a good thing, because at 110 pounds with a double coat, there is a lot of him to groom!  He truly is a gentle giant.  Boomer has a cool,  mellow personality, which is demonstrated by the way he puts his front feet on the veranda railing to 'stand' beside you, and by how he wraps his big, white paw around your leg to say "More cuddles please".  Rather than playing games, he sees his role as a guardian, true to his ancestry.  Boomer is our third family dog.  We also had a rescued mixed breed from up north and another Great Pyrenees who will always be a part of our family memories.

SUZANNE JURGENS, AHT, NATURAL DOG GROOMER

  • Suzanne is pleased to be joining Casey’s Pet Pages as a natural groomer and Animal Health Technician.  She will be providing tips to help us provide Living Wellness day-to-day care to our pets.  To contact Suzanne:  Suzanne@CaseysHealthHelp.com
  • Suzanne’s job allows her to work within the framework of her passion for animal wellness and dignity.  The art of natural dog grooming actualizes total respect for an animal as it is the least intrusive and most gentle way to groom a dog and it is combined with common sense education about the day-to-day care of the animal.  This respect of nature is very much a part of Suzanne’s vision of Living Wellness.
  • Suzanne is keenly aware of the therapeutic value pets provide.  She never ceases to be amazed at their unconditional love and their acceptance of us as unique individuals.  Suzanne is also aware that the respectful relationship between the owner and the pet needs to be reciprocal.  To ensure a healthy and well behaved pet, we must provide the pet with Living Wellness everyday, treat the pet with respect and be consistent in the messages we give the pet.  Suzanne believes that pets provide us with wellness, comfort and caring.

SUZANNE JURGENS

  • Lives by the philosophy, “Respect what God has created and treat others as you would like to be treated”.
  • Has an approachable, non-intrusive and non-judgmental persona that instantly makes people and animals feel at ease.
  • Is kind and nurturing to all and is always willing to help others.
  • Loves to laugh, enjoys the moment and is at ease with new and old acquaintances.
  • Believes strongly that when one acquires a pet, they are committed to providing a Living Wellness lifestyle to that pet for as long as it lives.
  • Applies the Living Wellness lifestyle to her own personal life.  She believes that each of us must take responsibly for our wellbeing and be proactive in our heath management.
  • Believes that the pet owner that is proactive and cares for their dog holistically (good nutrition, appropriate exercise, consistent boundaries, adequate stimulation and above all unconditional love) will reap the outcomes of a healthy, happy and well mannered pet.
  • Enjoys studying alternative therapies, such as homeopathy, which she has taken an introductory course in.  This will be ongoing and she will be pursuing it for as long as she can.
  • Believes that by Living Wellness as an individual we contribute to society’s Living Wellness and therefore make the world a better place.

SUZANNE'S HOBBIES

  • Suzanne loves various needlework projects and crafts such as cross stitching, felt appliqué, sewing, stamping, scrap booking, and folk-art just to name a few.
  • Suzanne was raised on a farm and has always loved animals.  She has been riding horses since she was 6 years old.  Suzanne’s respect and caring for animals started when she was very young.  Much to her mother's delight she would bring home every ailing animal to nurse it back to health.  Suzanne’s favorite story as a child was “Charlotte's Web”.  She once tried to rear a runt piglet that she aptly named "Wilbur".  Suzanne feels privileged to be working in a field that follows her childhood passion.
  • Suzanne enjoys practicing and learning about gardening. She gardens organically and two years ago discovered the joys and bounties of lasagna gardening!  Suzanne is always in awe of how Mother Nature’s design is flawless.
  • Suzanne enjoys music and loves to sing.  Her mother was the choir director and Suzanne learned voice from this experience in addition to taking private lessons.
  • Suzanne is also very involved in her community church.  She truly enjoys helping others and cherishes friendships made through these activities.
